After fleeing Ukraine, the Mukiza family has arrived in Mukono with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

Mukono
My family left Ukraine 10 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Mukono. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in November. I was a teacher in Ukraine, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $550 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $220 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $155 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $85 • Language classes and bus passes: $50 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $40 If you're reading this, thank you. - Kiprop

Rooting for you, Kiprop. Hope you get there. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. Take care!

    • thinking of you. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. After 11 years in teaching I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

      • Stay strong, Kiprop. Shared this with my family. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Blessings
