Niels was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in July. The oncology team at the Haarlem Oncology Institute has planned 10 rounds of treatment, starting in October. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Niels is 55, worked as a hairdresser until July, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to the Haarlem Oncology Institute 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
