Volunteers in Istanbul are raising $850 for a youth football pitch at the Lotus community hall.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $850.
It will serve about 324 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $850 goes:
• Materials: $720
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $65
• Tools hire and delivery: $25
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

How is Tarık doing now?
Hope it all works out, Tarık. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. All the best.
