The Liberty vacant lot needs a youth football pitch - Héctor's neighborhood project
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a youth football pitch - we need $2,900 for materials.
Anywhere in the world2,808 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 19 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,900.
It will serve about 496 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,900 goes:
• Materials: $2,250
• Safety equipment and signage: $450
• Tools hire and delivery: $200
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.
