A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in San Antonio
Volunteers in San Antonio are raising $2,750 for a community garden at Cedar Park.
🇺🇸 United States553 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Cedar Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,750.
It will serve about 509 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,750 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $370
• Materials: $2,200
• Permits and inspections: $180
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

you're not alone, Gaurav. Shared this with my family. Wish I lived closer to Bandung so I could bring a meal.
