For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 26 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $1,950. It will serve about 472 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,950 goes: • Materials: $1,300 • Permits and inspections: $160 • Safety equipment and signage: $155 • Tools hire and delivery: $335 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
