Istanbul
My family left the Democratic Republic of Congo 6 months ago after the war reached our town. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Istanbul. We're a family of seven and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in October. I was a teacher in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. Funds are managed by a local church-run settlement group, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf. Where the $450 goes: • Language classes and bus passes: $100 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $180 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $65 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $105 With deep gratitude, Tuğba

                  • Best of luck, Tuğba. This could happen to any of us. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. All the best
