The Hashemi family fled Ethiopia - help them rebuild in Kampala
After fleeing Ethiopia, the Hashemi family has arrived in Kampala with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

My family left Ethiopia 10 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Kampala. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little.
Our resettlement agency has provided 3 months of rent, and that support ends in March.
I was a mechanic in Ethiopia, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well.
We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months.
All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent).
Where the $450 goes:
• Rent deposit and first month: $290
• Winter clothing and school supplies: $50
• Beds, table and basic furniture: $110

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Akinyi.
Sure. The biggest one is rent deposit and first month, $290. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Ask me anything else.
