Keep a roof over Maya's head in Geelong
A final eviction notice arrived last week. Maya needs $4,450 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Geelong.

When the warehouse closed in August, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Saturday a final eviction notice was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $4,450.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by November, we must leave.
I've 4 children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working weekend shifts, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $4,450 goes:
• First month of rent as a buffer: $510
• Rent arrears (2 months): $3,800
• Late fees and court costs: $140

Quick update: $50 raised so far (1%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Update from Geelong: I met with the landlord and confirmed the amounts. We're at 4% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Maya
First month of rent as a buffer is $510 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for looking so closely.
Sending love. I was in a similar spot a few years ago and it did get better. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Take care.
Take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Thinking of Geelong.
