The Abdi family fled Yemen - help them rebuild in San Antonio

After fleeing Yemen, the Abdi family has arrived in San Antonio with little more than their documents. They need help with a deposit, furniture and the first months.

San Antonio
My family left Yemen 12 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in San Antonio. We're a family of four and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in May. I was a mechanic in Yemen, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $2,250 goes: • Language classes and bus passes: $300 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $740 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $960 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $250 With deep gratitude, Everly

  • Hope it all works out. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Blessings.

      how is Everly doing now?

      • Hope things get better soon. Hope you get there. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Warsaw.

        • Is language classes and bus passes the biggest cost or is there more coming?

          • Everly S. CruzOwnerAnswer

Language classes and bus passes is $300 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Good question.

        • Hope it all works out, Everly. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. God bless.

          • Hang in there. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Blessings
