Jocelyn was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in February. The surgeon at San Francisco Community Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and She is scheduled for April. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $6,000, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $4,450 short. my daughter has been in and out of San Francisco Community Hospital since February. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without a craniotomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $6,000 is more than we can find. While we wait, Jocelyn struggles with daily life and can't look after the children alone. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there. Recovery is expected to take about 3 weeks. During that time Jocelyn won't be able to look after the children alone, so the costs keep growing. The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did. Where the $4,450 goes: • Travel and lodging for the family: $250 • Physiotherapy sessions: $430 • Post-operative medication: $310 • Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $3,460 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Eugene
