Tenant-rights advice for Abdul in Kolkata: a short consultation
Looking for housing-law advice in West Bengal: an order to leave for 'renovations'.
Anywhere in the world900 views
My landlord in Kolkata has given me an order to leave for 'renovations'. I've read what I can online, but the rules are confusing and different sources contradict each other.
I'm hoping that someone with experience in housing or tenant rights in West Bengal could spare 20-30 minutes to explain the process, the deadlines and the documents I should collect.
I have my lease, all communications and photos organized. I'm happy to share them privately. I can't pay for a lawyer, so any guidance on free services in West Bengal would also be appreciated.
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

Good luck, Abdul. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes
Sending strength, Abdul. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Put this on a community board in Nairobi this morning. Take care

You're not alone. This could happen to any of us. My neighbor in Surrey donated after I showed her your page. All the best.
