Runa was diagnosed with a cleft palate needing repair in July. The surgeon at Dhaka Regional Medical Center recommended laparoscopic endometriosis surgery, and She is scheduled for November. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $1,300, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $1,050 short.
my sister has been in and out of Dhaka Regional Medical Center since July. The doctors say a cleft palate needing repair will get worse without laparoscopic endometriosis surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $1,300 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Runa struggles with daily life and can't drive. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
The recovery period is expected to take about 5 weeks. During that time Runa won't be able to drive, so the costs keep growing.
