Philadelphia

For three years I have run a street-food cart in Philadelphia. In August, floodwater took a gas stove and two refrigerators. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me. Before that, my customers came every Saturday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 3 weeks. This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment. Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item. Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go. Where the $2,800 goes: • Replacing a gas stove and two refrigerators: $1,150 • Initial stock: ingredients: $610 • Shop repairs and licensing: $410 • Working capital for the first month: $630 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Tao

Updates from Tao

Thank you all. We're at 10% now ($275). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.
Quick update: $45 raised so far (2%). I met with the supplier and confirmed the amounts. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($65 in total) I made the first payment toward working capital for the first month. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely. - Tao
