Alejandra was diagnosed with severe cataracts in both eyes in June. The surgeon at Tarragona Community Hospital recommended valve repair surgery, and She is scheduled for September. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $7,750, and after what the government subsidy will pay we're still $5,800 short.
my sister has been in and out of Tarragona Community Hospital since June. The doctors say severe cataracts in both eyes will get worse without valve repair surgery. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $7,750 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Alejandra struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. Her family has taken turns caring for her, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 6 weeks. During that time Alejandra won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
