Let's build a solar-powered water pump together in Riyadh
A community-led a solar-powered water pump at Union Primary School that will serve 155 neighbors.
🇸🇦 Riyadh, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia1,660 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $1,600.
It will serve about 155 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,600 goes:
• Materials: $990
• Permits and inspections: $195
• Safety equipment and signage: $110
• Tools hire and delivery: $305
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.

You're not alone. More neighborhoods should do this. It's not much but it's yours. Love from Port Harcourt.
wishing you the best, Walid. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. I hope August is when things finally get easier
Good luck, Walid. Shared it with a few friends. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money.
It takes guts to ask. Well done. Thinking of Riyadh!
Hang in there, Walid. Shared it with a few friends. All the best.
