Stop the eviction: 4 months of rent for Viral's family in Mumbai
A 10-day notice to quit arrived last week. Viral needs $750 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Mumbai.

After a car accident that kept me from work for 12 weeks, I fell 4 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a 10-day notice to quit was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $750.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by August, we must leave.
I have three school-aged children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working night deliveries, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
The money will be paid directly to the landlord and I'll upload the receipt once it's done.
Where the $750 goes:
• Rent arrears (4 months): $500
• Late fees and court costs: $25
• Utilities in arrears: $45
• First month of rent as a buffer: $180
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Thinking of you and your family, Viral. A secure home matters so much. Hope you're settled soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. Greetings from Shinjuku.

Thinking of you and your family. Your post was clear and honest. After 11 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything
