Plant 975 native trees around the Lotus riverbank in Gangnam
Volunteers are restoring the Lotus riverbank in Gangnam; $1,200 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇰🇷 Seoul, South Korea755 views
The Lotus riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This January, 66 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 108 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
Funds buy saplings, gloves, bags, hire of a skip, and signage.
Where the $1,200 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $430
• Tools and protective gear: $420
• Waste removal and skip hire: $200
• Signage and educational materials: $150
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

So sorry you're going through this, Eun-kyung. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My neighbor in Warri donated after I showed her your page.
Take care. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Greetings from Ikeja
Sending good thoughts, Eun-kyung. Gave what I could, wish it was more. Sent it to 37 people at work
Sending strength, Eun-kyung. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like. All the best.
Wishing you the best, Eun-kyung. This could happen to any of us. Take care.
