Stop the eviction: 2 months of rent for Maina's family in Kampala
A court summons for non-payment arrived last week. Maina needs $550 to clear the arrears and stay housed in Kampala.

After a car accident that kept me from work for 10 weeks, I fell 2 months behind on rent. Last Wednesday a court summons for non-payment was taped to my door, and the amount I owe is $550.
My landlord has been understanding for a while, but he has now been clear: if the arrears aren't cleared by December, we must leave.
I have two young children at home. Moving isn't just an expense - it would mean new schools, a new commute and no deposit to put down anywhere else.
I have started working evenings as a cleaner, and I'm applying for help from local services, but nothing will arrive in time without the rest of the gap covered here.
Funds go to the landlord and nowhere else. Any amount left over after the arrears are cleared will go toward next month's rent.
Where the $550 goes:
• Rent arrears (2 months): $370
• Late fees and court costs: $40
• Utilities in arrears: $20
• First month of rent as a buffer: $120
I hope life is good to you.

Hope things get better soon, Maina. Shared this with my family. The breakdown of costs made it easy to trust. All the best.
So sorry you're going through this, Maina. Looking forward to the next update. My neighbor had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Greetings from Tarragona.
