ACL reconstruction for Kevin: covering what insurance won't
Kevin needs ACL reconstruction at Nairobi University Hospital and the family is $500 short of the hospital's estimate.

In September I was diagnosed with a hernia that has become strangulated. My surgeon at Nairobi University Hospital recommended ACL reconstruction, and I have been placed on the schedule for November. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $830, and after what the public health scheme will pay, I'm still $500 short.
Doctors at Nairobi University Hospital told me a hernia that has become strangulated will get worse without ACL reconstruction. I work as a restaurant cook, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $830 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a restaurant cook have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 10 weeks. I'll not be able to lift anything heavy during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
The money goes straight to the treatment bills, and I'll share the invoices as they're paid so you can see exactly what your gift did.
Where the $500 goes:
• Surgeon and anesthesia fees: $400
• Physiotherapy sessions: $60
• Pre-operative tests and imaging: $40
Thank you for reading my story.

Your post was clear and honest. My neighbor in Kozhikode donated after I showed her your page. Love from Kozhikode.
Wishing you the best. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Keep going, Kevin. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. I'll check back for the next update. Blessings.
Wishing you peace, Kevin. Shared this with my family. All the best.
Take care, Kevin. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too
