Start-up fund for Sơn: reopening a street-food cart after the demolition of the market
A street-food cart in Sydney needs help replacing a gas stove and two refrigerators after the demolition of the market.
🇦🇺 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia5,216 views
For three years I have run a street-food cart in Sydney. In November, the demolition of the market took a gas stove and two refrigerators. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 2 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 12 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $2,900 goes:
• Replacing a gas stove and two refrigerators: $1,150
• Initial stock: ingredients: $750
• Shop repairs and licensing: $440
• Working capital for the first month: $560
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

Keep going. Hope this works out for you. Thinking of Sydney.
Rooting for you, Sơn. I hope things turn around soon
is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Sơn
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. replacing a gas stove and two refrigerators comes first ($1,150) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Ask me anything else.
Thinking of you and your family, Sơn. Your post was clear and honest. I'll check back for the next update. God bless.
Looking forward to the next update. Wish I lived closer to Vitória da Conquista so I could bring a meal.
it takes guts to ask. Well done. My brother had a similar thing happen so this one hit home. Love from Kinondoni.
Take care. I hope things turn around soon. Greetings from Embakasi.
Stay strong, Sơn. Hope you get there!
