Start-up fund for Mairead: reopening a neighborhood bakery after a storm that collapsed the roof
A neighborhood bakery in Kilkenny needs help replacing a commercial oven after a storm that collapsed the roof.
🇮🇪 Kilkenny, Leinster, Ireland877 views
For twelve years I have run a neighborhood bakery in Kilkenny. In February, a storm that collapsed the roof took a commercial oven. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 3 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 7 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
I'll buy equipment from local suppliers and post photos and receipts as I go.
Where the $2,550 goes:
• Replacing a commercial oven: $990
• Initial stock: flour, butter and sugar: $880
• Shop repairs and licensing: $195
• Working capital for the first month: $485
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Thank you all. We're at 4% now ($95). I'm honestly stunned. I made the first payment toward shop repairs and licensing.
