A solar-powered water pump for the Union vacant lot: help our neighbors in Nashik
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a solar-powered water pump - we need $350 for materials.
🇮🇳 Nashik, Maharashtra, India385 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a solar-powered water pump. This year a group of 29 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $135, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 486 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $260
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.

Thinking of you, Kalyani. I hope things turn around soon. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
Sending love. I hope things turn around soon. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day.
Hope it all works out. Your post was clear and honest. My husband and I read this together. Greetings from Bonny
Best of luck. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. After 26 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything
Stay strong, Kalyani. Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer.
