Start-up fund for Emilia: reopening a small grocery stall after floodwater
Emilia lost a cold-storage unit to floodwater and needs $1,850 to reopen a small grocery stall and support the family.

For four years I have run a small grocery stall in Birmingham. In January, floodwater took a cold-storage unit. I have no insurance, and the bank won't lend to me.
Before that, my customers came every Sunday, and I employed 1 people from the neighborhood. I have been out of business for 4 weeks.
This business pays my children's school fees and rent. I have already started working from home in small ways, but I can't meet orders without proper equipment.
Every contribution brings me closer to reopening, and I promise to post photos as I buy each item.
Once I'm back on my feet I plan to hire back the people I had to let go.
Where the $1,850 goes:
• Initial stock: fresh produce: $450
• Working capital for the first month: $630
• Replacing a cold-storage unit: $770
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

I hope things turn around soon. We're a small family in Kolkata but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Birmingham.
Stay strong, Emilia. Hope this works out for you.
