In April I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. My oncology team at Kochi Regional Medical Center has planned 6 rounds of treatment, and the first starts in July. I was told to expect about 12 weeks away from work. I never imagined I'd be writing something like this. I'm 40, I worked as a bank teller until April, and I have been the main earner for my household. Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, transport to Kochi Regional Medical Center 4 times a week, and the income I have lost add up quickly. My family is doing everything they can, but we've already sold what we could and are borrowing for groceries. Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment. Where the $1,200 goes: • Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $500 • Scans and lab work: $175 • Transport to Kochi Regional Medical Center: $160 • Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $100 • Household costs while unable to work: $265 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Varsha

  1. Thank you all. We're at 5% now ($55). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the treatment center and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Quick update: $30 raised so far (3%). I made the first payment toward transport to Kochi Regional Medical Center. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.
