Standing with Rafael: colon cancer treatment costs
6 rounds of treatment are planned at El Paso University Hospital; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.
🇺🇸 El Paso, Texas, United States602 views
Rafael was diagnosed with colon cancer in May. The oncology team at El Paso University Hospital has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in August. He will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Rafael is 37, worked as a hairdresser until May, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to El Paso University Hospital 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $5,150 goes:
• Scans and lab work: $1,400
• Transport to El Paso University Hospital: $810
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $660
• Household costs while unable to work: $2,280
With deep gratitude,
Hugo
