Restoring the Union wetland: a volunteer-led project in Sheffield
Help us clean and replant the Union wetland before the March planting window closes.
🇬🇧 Sheffield, England, United Kingdom2,518 views
The Union wetland has been used as an informal dump for years. This December, 94 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 60 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $1,250 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $480
• Tools and protective gear: $210
• Waste removal and skip hire: $310
• Signage and educational materials: $250
Thank you so much.

Is there anything that isn't money that would help Derek?
Thank you. If you're in Sheffield I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great.
praying for you. More neighborhoods should do this. I went through something like this 5 years ago and strangers helped me out. All the best
So sorry you're going through this, Derek. More neighborhoods should do this. Wish I lived closer to Braunschweig so I could bring a meal
