Óscar was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August. The oncology team at Madrid Cancer Centre has planned 6 rounds of treatment, starting in November. He will be away from work for about 7 weeks.
Óscar is 25, worked as a shop owner until August, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after him.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Madrid Cancer Centre 4 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off his shoulders.
Funds will be used only for treatment, medication, transport to appointments and essential living costs during treatment.
Where the $7,000 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,850
• Scans and lab work: $1,100
• Transport to Madrid Cancer Centre: $580
• Nutrition and supplements prescribed by the care team: $420
• Household costs while unable to work: $1,050
