Standing with Melek: stomach cancer treatment costs
12 rounds of treatment are planned at Düsseldorf Cancer Centre; we're asking for help with the costs insurance doesn't cover.

Melek was diagnosed with stomach cancer in March. The oncology team at Düsseldorf Cancer Centre has planned 12 rounds of treatment, starting in May. She will be away from work for about 6 weeks.
Melek is 38, worked as a nurse until March, and has always been the one who looks after everyone else. Now it's our turn to look after her.
Treatment is covered only in part. Medication that isn't on the approved list, trips to Düsseldorf Cancer Centre 5 times a week, and the income the family has lost add up quickly.
We've already sold what we could and have begun borrowing for groceries. Every kindness from you takes weight off her shoulders.
I'll post every invoice and receipt as an update so donors can follow where each gift goes.
Where the $5,150 goes:
• Chemotherapy and medication not covered: $3,000
• Scans and lab work: $770
• Transport to Düsseldorf Cancer Centre: $550
• Household costs while unable to work: $830
