Lloyd was diagnosed with a large ovarian cyst in May. The surgeon at Half-Way Tree General Hospital recommended a partial thyroidectomy, and He is scheduled for August. The hospital's financial office gave us a written estimate of $3,400, and after what the public health scheme will pay we're still $2,050 short.
my son has been in and out of Half-Way Tree General Hospital since May. The doctors say a large ovarian cyst will get worse without a partial thyroidectomy. We have emptied our savings and borrowed from relatives, but the estimate of $3,400 is more than we can find.
While we wait, Lloyd struggles with daily life and can't stand for more than ten minutes. His family has taken turns caring for him, and I've cut my own work hours to be there.
Recovery is expected to take about 12 weeks. During that time Lloyd won't be able to stand for more than ten minutes, so the costs keep growing.
