Salvador is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying a law degree at Arlington Community College, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a delivery rider to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $4,500.
The registrar has said Salvador can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Salvador has a top-ten-percent average, and an academic advisor has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Salvador would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Salvador isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $4,500 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,250
• Exam and lab fees: $130
• Final term tuition: $2,120
