I live with an amputation below the knee. My occupational therapist at the Detroit Mobility Clinic has assessed me and recommended a powered wheelchair. The public scheme doesn't cover it, and the quote from the supplier is $6,650.
My current equipment is 10 years old and keeps breaking, which has confined me to home for 12 weeks.
With the right equipment I could attend work interviews. It would change my everyday life and my ability to work from home.
We've applied to two charities already and received small contributions; this campaign covers the rest.
Funds go toward the equipment, delivery, fitting and a year of servicing.

• First-year servicing plan: $155
• Fitting and training sessions: $245

What exactly is the $6,650 for?
