Restoring the Pioneer hillside: a volunteer-led project in Hubballi
Volunteers are restoring the Pioneer hillside in Hubballi; $200 covers saplings, tools and waste removal.
🇮🇳 India577 views
The Pioneer hillside has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 111 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 93 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $200 goes:
• Tools and protective gear: $50
• Signage and educational materials: $15
• Waste removal and skip hire: $135
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Small update. $139 so far, I met with the nursery and confirmed the amounts.

Praying for you, Saanvi. This could happen to any of us. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Love from Pretoria
more neighborhoods should do this. Please keep us posted

Thinking of you. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Mumbai
