My family left the Democratic Republic of Congo 6 months ago after we could no longer live safely. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Fresno. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 2 months of rent, and that support ends in April. I was an electrician in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. Funds are managed by a local church-run settlement group, a registered organization, which pays the landlord and suppliers on the family's behalf. Where the $4,150 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $2,250 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $770 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $550 • Language classes and bus passes: $320 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $260 Every share and every dollar helps. - Cooper
