René needs emergency hernia repair at Saint-Denis University Hospital and the family is $5,800 short of the hospital's estimate.

In July I was diagnosed with gallstones with repeated infections. My surgeon at Saint-Denis University Hospital recommended emergency hernia repair, and I have been placed on the schedule for October. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $8,250, and after what our health plan will pay, I'm still $5,800 short.
Doctors at Saint-Denis University Hospital told me gallstones with repeated infections will get worse without emergency hernia repair. I work as a farm laborer, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $8,250 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a farm laborer have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
Rehabilitation is expected to take about 7 weeks. I'll not be able to stand for more than ten minutes during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.

Surgeon and anesthesia fees is $2,250 of it. Everything else is listed in the story and nothing outside that list comes out of this page. Thanks for looking so closely.
