Rafael is the first person in the family to go to university. He is studying an accounting degree at Miami State College, and is one term away from graduating. He has worked as a barista to pay the way, but this term the hours were cut and there's an unpaid balance of $5,900.
The registrar has said Rafael can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. Rafael has a 3.6 average, and a department head has written in support.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support the younger siblings. Without enrolling this term Rafael would lose his place and scholarship eligibility.
Rafael isn't asking for a handout - He wants to finish what He started and help the next student.
Everything raised goes to the university's accounts office toward the outstanding balance and the final term's fees.
Where the $5,900 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $2,100
• Final term tuition: $3,250
• Exam and lab fees: $185
• Textbooks and materials: $365

Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Miami.
Hope things get better soon. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. My neighbor in Kasarani donated after I showed her your page. Blessings.
Good luck, Isabel. Hope this works out for you.
Rooting for you, Isabel. Hope this works out for you. My neighbor in Takoradi donated after I showed her your page. Take care.
