Help us clean and replant the Liberty canal before the December planting window closes.

Verona
The Liberty canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This August, 77 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 175 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good. We have a plan agreed with the district council, including native species selected by a local botanist. The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade. All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials. We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted. Where the $1,600 goes: • Native saplings and stakes: $850 • Tools and protective gear: $420 • Waste removal and skip hire: $200 • Signage and educational materials: $130 Glad we found this place.

Updates from Omar

  1. Good news. Because of your gifts ($200 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

praying for you, Omar. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 24 years in social work I know how hard it's to ask for anything. God bless!
