Let's build a repair café workshop together in Austin
A community-led a repair café workshop at the Freedom health centre yard that will serve 507 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $3,100.
It will serve about 507 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,100 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $270
• Materials: $2,600
• Tools hire and delivery: $230

Best of luck, Samuel. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Austin.
