Plant 3,450 native trees around the Freedom canal in Lapu-Lapu
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Freedom canal needs $300 for saplings and equipment.
🇵🇭 Philippines1,142 views
The Freedom canal has been used as an informal dump for years. This September, 66 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 49 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the local forestry office, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $300 goes:
• Waste removal and skip hire: $120
• Tools and protective gear: $115
• Signage and educational materials: $65
I hope life is good to you.

Hope you get there. Put this on a community board in Cologne this morning
Thinking of you and your family. More neighborhoods should do this. After 13 years in logistics I know how hard it's to ask for anything.
hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Love from Kyiv
