Plant 1,200 native trees around the Acacia riverbank in Brooklyn
A neighborhood-led restoration of the Acacia riverbank needs $2,600 for saplings and equipment.

The Acacia riverbank has been used as an informal dump for years. This May, 44 neighbors turned up for a first cleanup, filling 48 bags in a single morning. Now we want to restore it for good.
We have a plan agreed with the city parks department, including native species selected by a local botanist.
The area floods more each year, and fish have returned for the first time in a decade after our first cleanup. Restoring it will protect homes and bring back shade.
All the labor is volunteered. We just need materials.
We'll post planting day photos and a count of every sapling planted.
Where the $2,600 goes:
• Native saplings and stakes: $1,450
• Tools and protective gear: $350
• Waste removal and skip hire: $550
• Signage and educational materials: $250
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.

Keep going, Miguel. Gave what I could, wish it was more. God bless
Thinking of you and your family. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I have a 7 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Greetings from Wrocław.
