I'm the first person in my family to go to university. I'm studying a pharmacy diploma at the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology, and I'm two terms away from graduating. I have worked as a night-shift cleaner to pay my way, but this term my hours were cut and I have an unpaid balance of $650.
The registrar has told me I can't enroll for the next term until the balance is cleared. I have a first-class average, and my faculty supervisor has written in support of my application for a payment plan.
Graduating means a stable job and the chance to support my younger siblings. Without enrolling this term I'd lose my place and my scholarship eligibility.
I'm not asking for a handout - I want to finish what I started and then help the next student.
The payment will go directly to the the Addis Ababa Institute of Technology bursar's office. I'll post the receipt.
Where the $650 goes:
• Outstanding tuition balance: $280
• Final term tuition: $330
• Textbooks and materials: $40
Thanks for being kind about this.

Updates from Saba
Thank you all. We're at 13% now ($85). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the university and confirmed the amounts.

is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Saba
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. outstanding tuition balance is the biggest at $280. Ask me anything else.
Hope things get better soon, Saba. Education changes everything, hope you graduate with honors. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it.
Take care, Saba. This could happen to any of us
Sending love, Saba. Gave what I could, wish it was more
