My tuk-tuk: Pongsak's only way to earn a living

Without my tuk-tuk Pongsak can't work; a $200 repair would put him back on the road.

I make my living with my tuk-tuk. 7 weeks ago the engine head gasket failed, and the mechanic says the repair will cost $200. Without the vehicle I earn nothing. I have been borrowing from friends to pay rent, and now I have run out of people to ask. I support my younger brothers and sisters. Before the breakdown I worked eleven hours a day, six days a week. I have been offered extra shifts for the next four months if I can just get the vehicle working. I have a written estimate from a certified mechanic and will upload it here. All money will go toward the parts and labor on the estimate, with a small amount for road tax and insurance renewal. Where the $200 goes: • engine head gasket replacement (parts): $140 • Towing and inspection: $35 • Road tax and insurance renewal: $25 Thanks for being kind about this.

Updates from Pongsak

  1. Quick update: $98 raised so far (49%). the first invoice got paid this week. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  2. Wanted to say thank you properly. 28% funded and the plan for road tax and insurance renewal is now scheduled.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($55 in total) I met with the mechanic and confirmed the amounts. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

  • Keep going, Pongsak. I'd happily buy from you once you're back up. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend. All the best.

    • So sorry you're going through this. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. Love from Paris.

      • Hope it all works out, Pongsak. Shared this with my family. My husband and I read this together. God bless

        • Praying for you, Pongsak. It takes guts to ask. Well done. After 21 years in accounting I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

          • Keep going, Pongsak. Looking forward to the next update.
