Let's build a youth football pitch together in Heraklion
Volunteers in Heraklion are raising $1,550 for a youth football pitch at Union Park.
🇬🇷 Heraklion, Crete, Greece1,617 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a youth football pitch. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Union Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,550.
It will serve about 252 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,550 goes:
• Materials: $1,000
• Permits and inspections: $170
• Safety equipment and signage: $125
• Tools hire and delivery: $255
