For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $195, and the remaining cost is $350. It will serve about 372 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $350 goes: • Materials: $250 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $30 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
