Weekly meals for families and seniors in Mumbai
Urvashi runs a volunteer pantry feeding 88 families; this fund restocks shelves for the rainy season.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run the Second Helping every Thursday from the back of a school canteen. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 88 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 44% this rainy season, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 14 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Mumbai market and keep every receipt.
Each $5 feeds a family of four for a week.
I'll post the weekly shopping receipts and a photo of the shelves each Sunday.
Where the $200 goes:
• Baby formula and diapers: $40
• Refrigeration and electricity: $40
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $120
Thanks for being kind about this.

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Urvashi
The list at the bottom is the whole picture. baby formula and diapers is the biggest at $40. Ask me anything else.
Best of luck. I hope things turn around soon. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too. Thinking of Mumbai.
Good luck, Urvashi. Shared this with my family. Greetings from Palmira
