Mwanza
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $60, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 532 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in July and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $150 • Permits and inspections: $30 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $65 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Barasa
