Let's build a rainwater harvesting system together in Edinburgh
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Freedom vacant lot that will serve 443 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $440, and the remaining cost is $1,050.
It will serve about 443 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,050 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $330
• Safety equipment and signage: $410
• Tools hire and delivery: $310
