Let's build a free library and reading room together in Mombasa
A community-led a free library and reading room at the Jacaranda community hall that will serve 575 neighbors.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Jacaranda community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 575 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $45
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Materials: $365
