Let's build a covered market stall space together in Johannesburg
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a covered market stall space - we need $750 for materials.
🇿🇦 Gauteng, South Africa1,326 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Cedar bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $750.
It will serve about 579 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $750 goes:
• Materials: $550
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $110
Thanks for being kind about this.

Updates from Tshepo
Good news. Because of your gifts ($135 in total) I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
Small update. $35 so far, the plan for safety equipment and signage is now scheduled.
