Landslide in Contagem: help the Lakeview neighborhood rebuild

After the landslide, families in the Lakeview neighborhood need clean water, roofing materials and bedding.

Contagem
The landslide hit the Lakeview neighborhood on 29 March. My home was one of 52 damaged, and 12 families are still in temporary shelter at the local school gym. The first few days we shared what little we had. Now the cleanup has started, but we've no money for materials and winter or the rainy season is coming. Schools in the area have been closed, and the clinic lost its cold storage for vaccines. We're a small community of working families who have never asked for help before. We have formed a volunteer committee, and I'm the treasurer, so I'll post receipts for everything we buy. Funds go to building materials, water purification supplies, bedding, and food for families still in shelters. Where the $2,250 goes: • Roofing sheets and timber: $1,000 • Clean water and purification supplies: $270 • Bedding, blankets and mattresses: $165 • Food parcels for displaced families: $270 • Tools and labor for repairs: $545 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Updates from Beatriz

  1. Thank you all. We're at 43% now ($970). I'm honestly stunned. I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts.

  2. Quick update: $880 raised so far (39%). we've started the first stage. Receipts coming as soon as I have them.

  3. Wanted to say thank you properly. 18% funded and the plan for bedding, blankets and mattresses is now scheduled. - Beatriz
